When I received my B.A. in Philosophy and Comparative Literature from The Evergreen State College in 2016, I couldn’t have anticipated that I would become a Master of Human-Computer Interaction + Design 8 years later. Yet, I see the connection: each centers imagination and storytelling at its core.
Designers have the unique responsibility of understanding and anticipating what people desire and how technology can meet the human condition, just as philosophy and literature seek to excavate the meaning behind ideas, our selves, and the stories we tell to situate our being in the world.
Linearity who?
We aren’t our jobs. If you can believe it, customer service and sales never resonated with me. I’m being sarcastic. I’m an artist first, driven by creativity, self-expression, and cultivating the sensibilities that make me more strategic in my craft. I hope to leverage technology to inspire creativity and agency in people’s day-to-day lives.
Creativity and autonomy
I’m taking on new photography projects as they arise, making art, perching at a coffee shop eating donuts (and then working out to compensate for my over-indulgence), or letting loose at a club.
